To sit and wait for summer to come,
Songs, and prayers and other lies,
Wont delay her.
Summer never stays for long.
A resignation, dotted and signed,
Stores expanded and supplies gathered,
going through the motion and rhetoric,
they will never be consumed.
This isn't winter, its surrender.
To stay inside and watch the sky,
To sit and wait as days pass us by,
Words unheard and tastes unknown,
Escape from sensation.
And I can never know defeat.
Nor death.
Nor taste of sky.

Transitional ghosts and the half-remembered trolls of childhood;
it is said that you can find yourself by divining in your blood.
But you throw it out, bathwater and crimson shame;
You lie awake and naked, and tell yourself there is no blame.

I am a roadmap to my deeds,
My legacy written in skin.
My face is a jagged range,
covered in mountains and ravines,
My geography standing on bone.
My skin is stretched and tormented,
I host belching factories,
My desecration evident on sight.
My blood has become a poison,
but it is one I welcome.
For it is who I am.
My canvas is stained, mistakes uncorrected,
I am a journey to myself,
and my scars will tell my tale.
